Cooper Jacoby

Cooper Jacoby - HIGH ART
Cooper Jacoby's practice meticulously dissects the interfaces and infrastructures of the designed world, revealing their operations and the technological imaginaries embedded within them.

Incorporating responsive elements such as machine learning, motors and sensors, his sculptures rescript ubiquitous systems in ways that make their labor and forms of circulation intelligible. From the screens of thermostats to the thresholds of storm drains to the inner circuits of fluorescent lights, Jacoby’s work vitiates and repurposes the ambient technologies that regulate life into potent tokens of the ongoing friction between the built world, its inhabitants and the environment at large.

Cooper Jacoby was born in 1989 in Princeton, New Jersey, USA. He currently lives and works in Miami, USA. Recent solo exhibitions include: Intermission, Athens, Greece; Swiss Institute at LUMA Westbau, Zurich, Switzerland; Freedman Fitzpatrick Gallery, Los Angeles, USA; Kunsthalle, Baden-Baden, Germany.
