Bringing together an ensemble of distinct practices, the presentation will highlight permeable approaches to architectural perception in relation to novel contours of contemporary subjectivity. Each partaking with a specific material and visual vocabulary, the exhibited artists share an interest in the rendering of social environments and the role objects of art play within these environments. Viewing architecture as a malleable medium porous to both the articulation of subjects and the forces and processes of the natural world, the presentation aims to draw attention to this intersection while elaborating further on arts contextual agency. From Julien Creuzet’s materialization of post-anthropocene/colonial subjectivity Max Hooper Schneider’s terrariums of impossible ecosystems, the artworks on display will expand on the fundamental tensions found between constructed environments and the forces (both living and non-living) that inhabit and surround them.
